IST Lisbon (Portugal) , IHE Delft (the Netherlands) , TU Dresden (Germany) invites application for Joint Master Programme in GroundwatCH Erasmus Mundus Scholarship and Global Change for eligible and interested candidates

About- As the largest liquid freshwater reservoir on earth, groundwater has both a huge environmental and economic value, and will be an essential resource for adaptation to climate change and reduction of socio-economic vulnerability, particularly in regions where freshwater availability is highly variable and frequently limited. Several factors foster the need for a more comprehensive and multidisciplinary educational groundwater programme.

Programme universities:

Eligibility/Qualification–

  • Certified copy (ies) of academic diploma(s) (if applicable translated in English);
  • Certified academic transcript(s), (if applicable translated in English);
  • Curriculum Vitae including work experience and research record (if any);
  • Letter of Motivation stating the applicant’s interest in the study programme:
    • The following needs to be addressed in the motivation letter:
      • Reference to issues of Groundwater and Global Change in your country and/or worldwide;
      • Clear description of own qualifications and experience;
      • Specific reference to the GroundwatCh study programme and objectives;
      • Coherence of own intended career with the GroundwatCh study programme
        • (Preferably the motivation letter should have a maximum of 1000 words).​
  • Two letters of recommendation, preferably not older than six months either by two university teachers or by one university teacher and by one employer, or by internationally recognized scientist(s). The reference letters should:
    • Refer to academic and scientific qualifications and potential of the candidate with regard to the programme;
    • Refer to professional qualifications and/or potential of the candidate;
    • Refer to personal qualifications and/or potential of the candidate.
  • Results of an English language test proving you comply with the programme’s language requirements.
  • Residence certificate. In order to verify your place of residence, you need to submit a residence certificate with your application for admission. You can use for example:​
    • A residence certificate issued in accordance with the candidate’s municipality normal registration rules;
    • A certificate from your place of work issued by your employer, which shows in which country you have been working.​
    • A certificate from your study or training issued by the institution in question. E.g. if you have been studying the year before the application scholarship application deadline, you may upload a transcript.

The residence certificate must have been issued within 12 months before the submission deadline of applying for an EMJMD scholarship; 15 January for partner countries and 15 February for programme countries;

Job/Position Description- 

The tables at the bottom of this page present the curriculum with the core teaching modules of the GroundwatCH Master Programme. The programme totals 120 ECTS, distributed over three semesters of 30 ECTS, i.e. one semester at each full partner, and a final semester of 30 ECTS, constituting the master study and resulting thesis.

  2. Groundwater Data Collection, Interpretation and Modelling;
  3. Climate Processes and Modelling;
  4. Integrated River Basin and Water Resource Management;
  5. Groundwater and Environmental Impacts;
  6. Groundwater, Society and Policies; and
  7. Groundwater, Climate and Global Change Impacts and Adaptation.
