Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications

To be eligible for the WBG Pioneers Internship Program, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Nationality: Must be a citizen of a World Bank Group member country.
  • Academic Status:
    • Undergraduate Track: Must be enrolled in a recognized university and in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree program.
    • Postgraduate Track: Must be currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program (and remain enrolled for the duration of the internship).
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of other official WBG languages (French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese, or Chinese) is advantageous.
  • Work Experience: Candidates with 0 to 6 years of professional work experience are eligible.

Job Description & Responsibilities

Selected interns join short-term temporary contracts and contribute directly to WBG workstreams. Responsibilities generally include:
