Scholarship Description The Human Rights Scholarship at the University of Melbourne offers:

  • Living allowance of $42,000 per year, pro rata, for up to 2 years for Master’s students and up to 3.5 years for Doctoral students.
  • Full fee offset for up to 2 years for Master’s by Research and up to 4 years for Doctoral students.
  • Relocation grants of $2,000 for students moving from within Australia and $3,000 for those moving from outside Australia.
  • OSHC for international students requiring a student visa.

Eligibility To be eligible for the Human Rights Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Meet the entry requirements for a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne.
  • Be currently enrolled or have applied for a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne.
  • Intend to undertake graduate research in the field of Human Rights.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the peaceful advancement of respect for human rights beyond academic studies.
  • Not have completed a research qualification at the same or higher level than the course for which the scholarship is sought.
  • Intend to study full-time unless there are compassionate or compelling circumstances.
  • Not have previously received a Human Rights Scholarship.

How to Apply To apply for the University of Melbourne Human Rights Scholarship:

  1. Apply for a graduate research course by the application closing date for that course. You will be automatically considered for the Graduate Research Scholarships.
  2. Within ten business days of submitting your course application, you will receive a notification that a scholarship application has been added to your record.
  3. Submit an online Human Rights Scholarship application.
  4. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by email in February of the following year.

Last Date Applications close on 31 October 2024. Ensure all required documents and applications are submitted by this date to be considered for the scholarship.
