The HZB International Summer Program offers an exciting opportunity for undergraduate and master’s students to work closely on research projects with HZB scientists in Berlin, Germany. With full funding and no application fees, this program is an excellent chance to gain hands-on research experience in various scientific fields.

  • 🌞 Programme Dates: 6 July – 28 August 2026; applications open until 14 December 2025.
  • 🔬 Opportunity: 8-week research internship for 20 undergraduate students in fields like Photon Science, Photovoltaics, Solar Cells/Catalysis, Electrochemical Energy Storage, Quantum & Functional Materials, and Accelerator Research.
  • 🏢 Location: HZB campuses in Berlin-Wannsee and Berlin-Adlershof; hands-on lab and experimental work included.
  • 🌍 International Exposure: Participation in research facility visits, workshops on science communication & entrepreneurship, excursions, and a final scientific poster presentation.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Open to all nationalities (both EU and non-EU students).
  • Must be currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate program (Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Structural Biology, Mathematics, Engineering, Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences, etc.).
  • Applicants should have completed at least two years of full-time university coursework.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • A recommendation letter from a researcher or professor acquainted with the applicant’s academic work is required.

Job Description:

Participants in the HZB International Summer Program will:

  • Collaborate with leading scientists on innovative research projects.
