- Be citizens of Commonwealth countries, excluding South Africans.
- Have applied to study at the University of Pretoria for the 2025 academic year.
- Have identified a potential doctoral supervisor at the University of Pretoria.
- Submitted academic records to the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA).
- Have completed their postgraduate/Masters degree at least two years prior to applying for this scholarship.
- Be under the age of 40.
- Not be current or former PhD or Masters students at the University of Pretoria.
Job Description
As a recipient of the Commonwealth University of Pretoria Scholarship, the candidate will:
- Engage in full-time doctoral study at the University of Pretoria.
- Conduct significant research contributing to the university’s academic excellence.
- Collaborate with a designated doctoral supervisor.
- Utilize the provided scholarship funds to cover tuition fees, accommodation, living costs, medical aid, books, and stationery.
- Benefit from additional support such as flight tickets and visa-related costs.
How to Apply
- Submit an Online Application: Apply to the University of Pretoria for the 2025 academic year and obtain your application Ref “T” number or student number.
- Prepare Required Documents:
- A written motivation from your prospective doctoral supervisor confirming available research funding.
- An outline of your proposed research work (one A4 page).
- A CV (maximum three pages).
- Proof of granted study leave if applicable.
- A copy of a valid passport.
- Full academic transcripts (not certificates).
- Two completed reference forms from different academics/supervisors.
