Eligibility/Qualification
- Must be 18 years or older at the time of registration.
- Must be classified as a beginner in open-source software development or a student.
- Can only be accepted as a GSoC contributor a maximum of one time.
- Up to three project proposals can be submitted (either to different organizations or multiple proposals to the same organization).
Description
The GSoC program facilitates students and developers who propose coding project ideas to participating open-source organizations. These organizations review the proposals and select contributors based on their project ideas. Once accepted, contributors are paired with a mentor and will begin working on their project for 12 weeks. Participants are expected to complete and submit their final project within the given timeframe and will receive a stipend according to the size of their project and their location.
Stipend Breakdown
- Medium-sized Projects: $1500 to $3300
- Large-sized Projects: $3000 to $6600
- Small-sized Projects: $750 to $1650
