Eligibility/Qualification

To apply for the Saitama University MEXT Scholarship, candidates must:

• Hold or expect to have a Master’s degree before enrollment.
• Be a national of a country that has diplomatic relations with the Japanese Government.
• Be under 35 years of age as of April 1, 2025 (born on or after April 2, 1990).
• Demonstrate excellent academic achievements.
• Provide proof of English language proficiency (TOEFL 72, IELTS 5.5, or equivalent).
• Be in good mental and physical health.
• Reside outside Japan at the time of application and not hold Japanese nationality.
• Be able to arrive in Japan by the designated date at the end of September 2025.
• Not be an awardee of the Japanese Government Scholarship during the last three years.
