For the academic year 2022-2023, the Japanese government fully funds scholarships. Ritsumeikan University offers all academic subjects required by a university. Worldwide trainee scholarship in Japan. No need for IELTS to apply for a grant. The Master’s and Doctoral Scholarships are for two years each.

Language Requirements

All applicants must meet English language requirements.

A B2 or higher on the English Proficiency exam is equal to (e.g. TOEFL iBT 72 or above, IELTS 5.5 or above).

OR

In order to be exempt from the Language Test, students must submit an English Proficiency Certificate from their university.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a citizen of a country with which Japan has diplomatic ties.
  • Fit both physically and mentally.
  • Born on or after April 2, 1987.
  • You must have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.30 out of 3.00 for the last two years of formal study in order to arrive in Japan in mid-September 2022.
  • Be willing to obtain a new student visa and enter Japan to study after receiving the scholarship.

How to apply

All applicants must download the appropriate graduate school’s Application Guidelines and Application Form PDF, as well as the “Field of Study and Research Plan” template (WORD). Use the “Letter of Reference Template” below to ask your Dean, etc. to write you a Letter of Reference (to be clear, submission of a Letter of Reference is mandatory and there is no set format for the letter, however, using this optional template should ensure that the submitted letter meets the minimum requirements for acceptance).
