Eligibility/Qualification
To be eligible for the UTRIP Summer Internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Completed at least one full year of a bachelor’s degree program by the time of application.
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program (or an integrated bachelor’s-master’s program) at a university outside Japan and plan to return to their home institution after the internship.
- Majoring in natural sciences or a related field.
- Demonstrated strong interest in pursuing a long-term career in science.
- Availability to participate full-time for the entire six-week duration of the program.
- Proof of health insurance coverage effective during the internship period, provided before arriving in Japan.
- Non-native English speakers must submit TOEFL or equivalent English proficiency test scores, unless exempted by continuous English-medium education for the past eight years.
Job Description
As a UTRIP intern, participants will:
- Engage fully in assigned research projects under the mentorship of experienced researchers.
- Attend all scheduled academic and social events throughout the program.
- Prepare a written report on their research project and deliver an oral presentation at the end of the program.
- Participate in cultural activities and a comprehensive Japanese language course.
